FAQ

Classes and Courses

No jewellery making experience is necessary, with the exception of our Improvers Course. Rob is an excellent, patient teacher with over 45 years of experience, and will guide you through every step of making your own beautiful silver jewellery.

Do I need to have any jewellery making experience?

An allocation of silver is allowed within the cost of the class. Extra materials can be purchased on the day, although this is not often needed unless you have something larger/heavier in mind that might require more metal.

Are materials included in the cost?

The maximum class size is four students, ensuring plenty of personal tuition for every attendee.

How many people per class?

Most of our jewellery making classes last 3 hours, with the exception of the stacking ring class, which is 4 hours. Each of the six class sessions in the Beginners and Improvers courses last 2.5 hours each.

How long are the classes?

All courses are preceded by a health and safety introduction, so please arrive 10 minutes early for your class.

What time should I arrive for my class?

For safety reasons we ask that students wear long sleeved tops, long trousers and closed toe shoes, with long hair tied back.

What do I need to wear for the class?

Both the Beginners Course and Improvers Course run for six weeks for each group.

How long are the courses?

The Beginners Course is an excellent introduction to designing and making your own silver jewellery. No previous experience is necessary as Rob, our expert jeweller, will guide you all the way. On this course you will learn new skills such as: metal forming, filing, annealing, soldering, piercing, texturing and finishing.

The Improvers Course is an excellent way to build on the skills taught on the Beginners Course, allowing students to really strengthen their existing skills whilst learning additional techniques such as: advanced soldering techniques, doming, stone setting, rolling metals, texturing and chain making.
